The Los Angeles Lakers are finalizing a contract to add David Fizdale to head coach Frank Vogel's staff, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 47-year-old Fizdale amassed a 71-134 (.346) record as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies (2016-18) and New York Knicks (2018-20), though he was dismissed in the second season of both stints.
Prior to becoming a head coach, Fizdale had a notable stint as one of Erik Spoelstra's lead assistants for nearly a decade - including in 2012 and 2013, when the Miami Heat won back-to-back titles.
Assistant Jason Kidd recently departed Vogel's coaching staff, returning to the head coaching ranks as the Dallas Mavericks' new bench boss.
