The Dallas Mavericks have offered a front-office leadership position to Nico Harrison, Nike's vice president of American basketball, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon and Adrian Wojnarowski.

Despite evidently not promoting Michael Finley to lead the front office, the team is reportedly optimistic the former Mavericks player and current vice president of basketball operations will stay to work alongside Harrison.

Franchise icon Dirk Nowitzki would also have a notable role in advising team owner Mark Cuban, The New York Times' Marc Stein reports.

Dallas parted ways with longtime executive Donnie Nelson following the team's first-round exit, with head coach Rick Carlisle leaving on his own accord a day later.

Former Mavericks point guard Jason Kidd is considered Carlisle's likely successor on the sideline.
