Philip Rivers makes head coaching debut at Alabama high school
Former NFL quarterback Philip Rivers is enjoying his new career as a high school football coach.
Rivers made his head coaching debut Friday in Bayou La Batre, Alabama as his St. Michael Catholic Cardinals faced Alma Bryant High School in a spring game.
"I've played a lot of football in the last 20 years and some of my favorite memories are Friday nights," Rivers, an Alabama native, told WPMI-TV.

St. Michael Catholic hired Rivers last August, but he didn't take over the school's football program until after retiring from the NFL in January.
The 39 year-old spent 16 seasons with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Indianapolis Colts for the 2020 campaign. He retired as the Chargers' all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns.
