The Tampa Bay Rays are a surprise entry in the pursuit of outfielder Marcell Ozuna, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Ozuna, who finished sixth in NL MVP voting last season, slashed .338/.431/.636 while leading the Senior Circuit in home runs (18) and RBIs (56) as a member of the Atlanta Braves.

However, the lack of a universal designated hitter for 2021 could be impacting the free-agent slugger's market, Heyman noted.

The low-spending Rays are currently projected to use Austin Meadows, Yandy Diaz, and Yoshi Tsutsugo at the DH spot.

The Braves and New York Mets have also reportedly shown interest in Ozuna this offseason.
