Colorado Rockies star shortstop Trevor Story isn't very pleased after former teammate Nolan Arenado was officially traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.

"Nolan's one of my best friends, baseball aside, so this hurts," Story said, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. "He's the best third baseman in the game. I'm sad and a little frustrated to be honest.

"All I can do is focus on playing the best baseball I can for my teammates and the fans, they deserve it."

Story had played with Arenado since 2016, which included back-to-back postseason trips in 2017 and 2018.

The two-time All-Star is scheduled to become a free agent following the 2021 campaign. He hasn't finished lower than 12th in NL MVP voting over the last three seasons.

The Rockies haven't signed a free agent to a major-league contract this offseason.
