Chicago White Sox second baseman Nick Madrigal isn't lacking confidence.

The 23-year-old rookie believes he'll one day join the 3,000-hit club, which currently features only 32 members.

"I've seen a lot of great hitters in this league growing up and watching guys. The 3,000 mark is not easy at all, there's very few people that do it. But I feel like that's very reachable," Madrigal said on the "White Sox Talk Podcast." "I know that's throwing a big statement out there, but I believe in myself and I know what it takes to play this game and I feel confident I can do that."

"I haven't broken it down exactly by season, but I know it's going to take a lot of getting on base," he added.

Madrigal registered 35 hits over 29 games for the White Sox in 2020. He would need to average about 195 hits each season through 2036 for a chance to reach the milestone.

"There's been a lot of people that have said they're going to do things," he continued. "But I feel confident in myself and my work ability, and hopefully it comes, god willing."
