Report: Twins up amount of money offered to Cruz on 1-year deal

The Minnesota Twins are interested in reuniting with designated hitter Nelson Cruz and upped the amount of money they're offering the slugger on a one-year deal, according to MLB Network's Jon Heyman.

Multiple other teams, including ones in the National League, are also interested in the 40-year-old, who's been waiting for clarification about the universal DH rule before signing, Heyman adds.

Cruz hasn't appeared at any position other than DH since 2018.

The six-time All-Star spent the past two seasons with Minnesota, hitting a combined .308/.394/.626 with 57 home runs and 141 RBIs in 173 games.

Since 2014, the Dominican leads all hitters with 260 homers. Mike Trout's 240 homers is a distant second, followed by Edwin Encarnacion's 229.
