Jim Harbaugh isn't going anywhere.

The Michigan head coach signed a four-year extension Friday, the school announced.

Harbaugh had one season left on his previous deal, so he's now signed through the 2025 campaign.

"Over the past few weeks, (athletic director) Warde (Manuel) and I had discussions that have been honest, open, insightful, and constructive in moving our football program forward. Discussions that I look forward to continuing over the months and years ahead. We have a plan," Harbaugh said in a statement.

Harbaugh's new deal is expected to have a base salary of $4 million, but it can be worth up to $8 million due to incentives, reports The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner.

The buyout of the coach's new pact is apparently expected to be low.

There was speculation that Michigan could move on from Harbaugh following a disappointing 2-4 campaign. The 57-year-old was also linked to multiple NFL teams.

"I continue to believe that Jim is the right man to lead our program in pursuit of Big Ten and CFP championships," Manuel said. "Our program didn't achieve at a level that anyone expected this year, but I know those setbacks will drive the coaches, players, and staff moving forward. Jim is a tireless worker and competitor."

Harbaugh has posted a 49-22 record through six seasons with Michigan, including a 34-16 mark in the Big Ten. He's led the Wolverines to five bowl games but has won just one of those contests.

Michigan, which allowed 34.5 points per game in 2020, fired defensive coordinator Don Brown in December.
