Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin will start Game 2 of the National League Championship Series after star left-hander Clayton Kershaw was scratched due to back spasms, the team announced Tuesday.

Kershaw was spotted on Tuesday doing dry work in the bullpen at Globe Life Field, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that the likelihood of Kershaw pitching again in the NLCS is "very good," according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

However, Roberts also said the 32-year-old hurler won't start in Game 3 on Wednesday, according to Alanna Rizzo of SportsNet LA.

Kershaw pitched last Wednesday in an NLDS victory over the San Diego Padres. The three-time Cy Young winner owns a 1.93 ERA with 19 strikeouts across two playoff starts this season.

Gonsolin, who's one of the favorites to take home NL Rookie of the Year, will be making his first career postseason start. The 26-year-old authored a 2.31 ERA in nine games (eight starts) during the 2020 campaign.

The Dodgers trail the Atlanta Braves in the best-of-seven series after dropping Game 1 on Monday.
