The Boston Red Sox traded left-hander Josh Osich to the Chicago Cubs for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the club announced.
Osich, a six-year veteran, owns a 5.74 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 13 appearances (one start) with Boston this year. He's posted decent splits against lefty batters in 2020, holding them to a .747 OPS with nine strikeouts across 28 plate appearances.
The 31-year-old will be eligible for arbitration for the first time this offseason.
Osich is the second left-handed reliever the Cubs have added ahead of the deadline. The North Siders also acquired Andrew Chafin from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Chicago designated infielder Hernan Perez for assignment in a corresponding move.
