Orioles ship Mychal Givens to Rockies
The Baltimore Orioles have traded right-hander Mychal Givens to the Colorado Rockies for infielders Tyler Nevin and Terrin Vavra, as well as a player to be named later, the Orioles announced.
Givens is in the midst of a resurgent campaign after two down years with the Orioles. The 30-year-old owns a 1.38 ERA with 19 strikeouts and six walks in 13 innings this season.
Vavra was ranked No. 7 in the Rockies' farm system, according to MLB Pipeline. The 23-year hit .318/.409/.489 with 10 home runs, 32 doubles, and 52 RBIs for Single-A Asheville in 2019.
Nevin, 23, was selected in the first round of the 2015 draft by the Rockies. He belted 13 homers and had 61 RBIs in Double-A last season. He's the son of former player and current New York Yankees coach, Phil Nevin.
The Rockies sit third in the National League West despite a bullpen with the third-highest ERA (5.81) in baseball.
Baltimore also traded left-hander Tommy Milone to the Atlanta Braves earlier Sunday.
