The 29-year-old Clevinger was one of the most notable names available heading into Monday's trade deadline. He's 42-22 with a 3.20 ERA and 3.58 FIP in five big-league seasons with the Indians.

However, this campaign has been a rocky one for Clevinger, as he controversially violated team safety protocols with teammate Zach Plesac in early August.

It appears the right-hander is thrilled about his new home.

"This is one of the most exciting teams to watch ... If there's one thing I can bring to the field it's energy, and this team has a bunch of it," Clevinger said, according to Darnay Tripp of NBC San Diego.

"Before the trades, it was a World Series-caliber roster," he added, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

The 27-year-old Allen heads to San Diego with a .639 OPS in 220 career games.

Cleveland's haul is substantial.

The Padres selected Quantrill eighth overall in the 2016 draft. In 10 appearances this season, including one start, the Canadian has a 2.60 ERA and 3.94 FIP with 18 strikeouts in 17 1/3 innings.

Naylor, 23, was also a first-rounder; the Miami Marlins drafted him 12th overall in 2015. In 112 games, Naylor owns a .253/.315/.405 slash line with nine home runs and 36 RBIs. He'll join his younger brother, Bo Naylor, in the Indians organization.

Hedges, 28, is a defense-first catcher with some pop. He's recorded 58 defensive runs saved in six seasons with the Padres and belted double-digit homers in three straight seasons from 2017 to 2019.

Arias, Cantillo, and Miller were the Padres' No. 7, 9, and 11 prospects, respectively, according to MLB Pipeline.

The 20-year-old Arias hit well at High-A in 2019, slashing .302/.339/.470 with 17 home runs, 21 doubles, and 75 RBIs. However, the infielder also struck out 128 times in 120 games.

Cantillo, 20, posted a 10-4 record with a 2.26 ERA and 0.93 WHIP across two minor-league levels last season, striking out 144 batters in 111 2/3 innings.

The 23-year-old Miller spent last season at Double-A Amarillo and posted a .785 OPS with 28 doubles and 68 RBIs in 507 at-bats.

This is the fifth trade made by San Diego's front office in the past three days.

In addition to Clevinger and Allen, the Padres added first baseman Mitch Moreland, catchers Jason Castro and Austin Nola, and relievers Trevor Rosenthal, Austin Adams, and Dan Altavilla.
