The entire three-game series between the New York Mets and New York Yankees scheduled for Aug. 21-23 has been postponed after two people in the Mets organization tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, Major League Baseball announced Friday.

The decision was made "out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing to be performed within the New York Mets organization," MLB said in a statement.

Friday's game at Citi Field had already been postponed. There is no indication of when the games will be made up.

The Mets' positive results also led to the postponement of their game against the Miami Marlins on Thursday.

The Mets also announced their traveling party underwent another round of testing Friday after flying to New York from Miami.

The team will continue to quarantine in New York while the two people who tested positive will remain in Miami to undergo additional testing.
