Redditor's analysis shows how Taco Tuesdays impact LeBron's game
LeBron James' love for tacos may be hurting his on-court performance, one Reddit user's analysis suggests.
In a post on the NBA subbreddit Tuesday, Redditor u/angrycentrist broke down the impact Taco Tuesdays have had on James' productivity. The analysis determined that during the "pre-Taco Tuesday era" (2003-04 to 2017-18), James played better on Tuesdays.
"Since LeBron entered the league, his Tuesday night performances had registered the lowest rate of negative variances and the highest rate of positive variances," they explained. "Meaning, Tuesday is the day he was least likely to perform worse than his season average, and the day he was most likely to perform better than his season average."
His teams also performed well on Tuesdays during this period, winning 71% of their games on this day - more than 4% better than James' overall win rate for the same period, according to the analysis.

In the first two seasons of the "Taco Tuesday era," James' Tuesday performances are now among his worst. His team's win percentage has also dropped to 63% on Tuesdays.
"LeBron is suddenly performing notably worse than his season average in most of the key stats," the Reddit user wrote. "A complete reversal of the trend from the days before his taco titillations."
However, as another Redditor pointed out, James presumably eats tacos after his games on Tuesday, and since his Wednesday performances are stronger, Taco Tuesdays may actually increase his production the following day.
James and the Los Angeles Lakers currently don't have any games scheduled on Tuesdays for the NBA restart, but do have a Wednesday matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Aug. 5.
