Rangers' Kluber out at least 4 weeks with torn shoulder muscle
Texas Rangers right-hander Corey Kluber will be placed on the injured list with a Grade 2 tear of the teres major muscle, the Rangers announced on Monday.
The 34-year-old will receive a platelet-rich plasma injection and won't throw for a minimum of four weeks before he's re-evaluated, reports The Athletic's Levi Weaver. Surgery isn't expected.
Kluber, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Cleveland Indians, left his first outing of the 2020 campaign after throwing one inning against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
The two-time Cy Young winner was expected to be the Rangers' ace. In 10 seasons, Kluber owns a 98-58 record with a 3.16 ERA and 2.99 FIP.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Kolby Allard will take Kluber's spot in the team's rotation, according to Weaver.
