Jude Bellingham's move to Borussia Dortmund is expected to be confirmed next week after the Birmingham City midfielder completed a medical Thursday, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.

The transfer fee could eventually rise to €25 million (£22.75 million), The Guardian's Fabrizio Romano reports.

Bellingham, 17, is the youngest debutant and goalscorer in Birmingham's history. Many big clubs tried to sign him as he progressed through the Blues' academy but it was decided that being fast-tracked to the first team at St. Andrew's was best for his development.

Now, after 42 appearances since his debut in a League Cup tie in August 2019, it appears he's ready to move on. He's back in England and is therefore in contention to face Preston North End on Saturday for what could be one of his final games for Birmingham, according to Stone.

Manchester United have been longtime admirers of Bellingham. The Red Devils apparently had an approach turned down for the teenager in January and club executives met with Bellingham's parents for talks in March, per Romano.

However, Dortmund are understood to have beaten United and a host of other English sides to his signature. The German club has an impressive track record of introducing young players to senior action, including Jadon Sancho and Christian Pulisic, and is assured of Champions League football for the 2020-21 campaign.
