Yankees' Chapman out for 'foreseeable future' after positive COVID-19 test

All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing mild symptoms, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone announced Saturday, according to Erik Boland of Newsday.

"He will not be here (at camp) for the foreseeable future," Boone said.

The Yankees conducted a contact-tracing investigation to identity teammates and staffers who had close contact with Chapman after the team learned of his positive test Thursday, reports Jack Curry of YES Network.

"(Zack Britton) naturally could fill the (closer) role; Britt would be a natural guy (to close games) if Chappy is not able to go," Boone said, according to Marly Rivera of ESPN.

Chapman, 32, is the third Yankees player to test positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus, along with infielder DJ LeMahieu and reliever Luis Cessa.
