With MLB owners unanimously voting on Monday to get the 2020 season underway, teams are expected to face opponents from within their usual divisions, and others from the corresponding geographical division in the opposite league, reports Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times.

Major League Baseball has not confirmed how things will be structured when a season gets underway, and the league must still wait for a response from the players' union about whether players can report to spring training by July 1 before moving forward. The players also need to sign off on health and safety measures.

There's no indication where games will occur if the season begins. The spring training facilities of all 30 teams were reportedly closed for deep cleaning after an uptick of COVID-19 cases among players occurred last week.

The New York Yankees and Mets are already planning to hold their spring training in New York rather than Florida, according to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
