Arsenal could have a long road ahead before they find a resolution to the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang contract saga.

The 30-year-old confirmed reports that Arsenal have not offered him a new deal, adding that the club is responsible for the next step in negotiations.

"Recently, I haven't received an offer, but of course there have been discussions with the club for a few months now," he told Telefoot, as translated by ESPN.

"They know very well why so far nothing has happened," he continued. "It's them who have the keys and for them to do their work. Afterward, we will see how things go."

The Gabonese forward's deal expires in 2021.

Arsenal will likely be forced to sell Aubameyang this summer if they fail to reach a deal, with reports saying that rivals Chelsea could be plotting a move for the 30-year-old.

Aubameyang - joint winner of last season's Premier League Golden Boot award - has yet to fully commit his future to the north London side and won't rush a decision, which he describes as "the most important" of his career.

"It is a turning point in my career, and I will be very frank with everyone, it will be, of course, a very difficult decision to make because I have still not decided," he added.

Aubameyang continued: "It is possibly the most important decision of my career. To be clear, nothing has been decided."

Regardless of the outcome, a decision over Aubameyang's future could have a significant impact on Alexandre Lacazette's role at the club.

The French forward will reportedly meet with Arsenal officials in the coming weeks to discuss his position in manager Mikel Arteta's future plans.

It's understood that Arsenal want to avoid losing both players this summer, but the team may have to sell Lacazette if Aubameyang agrees to a new contract due to financial pressures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
