As the NBA seeks to create a limited window for teams to add players before the 2019-20 season resumes in Orlando, the league will extend the same opportunity to the eight clubs already eliminated from contention, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The limited transaction window is expected to run from June 22 to July 1, sources told Wojnarowski and ESPN colleague Bobby Marks. Teams will reportedly be able to sign eligible free agents and convert two-way contracts into main-roster deals during this period.

The Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks will all be excluded when the NBA returns to action at Walt Disney World in late July.

Charlotte, Cleveland, and Golden State each have room to bring in two players, while Detroit and Minnesota can add one main-roster player apiece.

The reported move effectively ensures all teams have the chance to secure future talent before the end of the 2019-20 regular season. The official start of 2020 free agency is tentatively scheduled for mid-October following the conclusion of the expanded postseason.

Under normal circumstances, teams eliminated from postseason contention can sign free agents and convert contracts until the last week of the regular season. For instance, Marks notes that the Miami Heat converted Duncan Robinson's contract and signed Kendrick Nunn in April 2019; both players secured major roles with the team this season.
