Cincinnati Reds right-hander Trevor Bauer is one of the most cerebral minds when it comes to pitching, and he took his idiosyncrasies to the next level during Monday's Cactus League contest against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Bauer signaled to the batter what pitch from his arsenal was about to be thrown throughout his showdown against Matt Beaty.

Teammate Derek Dietrich said Bauer was tipping his pitches in direct response to the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal.

"Trevor's not too fond of (sign-stealing), so he figured he's going to try something new this season," Dietrich said. "He's going to start telling the batters what's coming. That way there's no ifs, ands, or buts about what's going on. It's just, 'Here it comes, try to hit it.'"

There's confidence, and then there's Bauer.

"You never know, Trevor's always going to do something nuts," Dietrich added.
