Prices surge for Kobe memorabilia
The demand for Kobe Bryant memorabilia is soaring in the wake of his death on Sunday.
TMZ Sports spoke to multiple high-end collectible dealers who said buyers are paying anywhere from two to 20 times the price that items were selling for before Bryant's death. One dealer said a rare basketball card that was expected to fetch around $2,500 ended up selling for nearly $50,000.
As of Monday afternoon, eBay had sold more than 12,800 Bryant items since news of his death broke, including a collection of 31 trading cards for $75,000, according to Brendan O'Brien and Melissa Fares of Reuters.
Meanwhile, Nike announced Tuesday that it has sold out of Bryant merchandise online rather than pulling the items, as some reports suggested. The company has not said when the merchandise will be restocked.
