Report: NBA reconsidering playoff reseeding idea
The NBA is seriously reconsidering the idea of reseeding the four conference finalists based on their regular-season records, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe report.
There's an increasing possibility that the playoff shuffle will be taken off the table before its voted on at the league's Board of Governors meeting in April, sources told Lowe and Wojnarowski.
Multiple teams, especially those situated near the coasts, have reportedly expressed their opposition due to travel concerns and a loss of traditional rivalries.
Meanwhile, the implementation of an in-season tournament and a play-in tourney for the seventh and eighth playoff seeds are moving toward April's vote, according to Wojnarowski and Lowe.
The NBA would need the support of the players' association and two-thirds of the teams to implement such changes.
Playoff reseeding was part of the reported original proposal to teams regarding significant schedule changes beginning in the 2021-22 season.
