Newcastle's late-summer overhaul continued Friday with the signing of Allan Saint-Maximin from Nice for a reported fee that could rise to £20 million.

The Magpies announced the 22-year-old winger makes the pilgrimage to Tyne and Wear on a six-year deal.

A left-winger by trade who can play anywhere across the front line, Saint-Maximin joins Newcastle following a career in France that saw him emerge from Saint-Etienne's youth setup before stretches with Monaco and Nice. He also enjoyed loan spells with Hannover and Bastia while on the Monegasques' books.

"I'm delighted to bring Allan to St. James' Park. He is a very talented young player with a big future ahead of him," Newcastle boss Steve Bruce said. "He has all the attributes you would want in an attacking player, including lightning pace, so I'm sure he'll excite everybody. He is a great addition to Newcastle United and the Premier League."

With lightning quickness and deft dribbling skills, Saint-Maximin fancies one-on-one situations and getting into dangerous areas, something he did last season under Patrick Vieira while pairing six Ligue 1 goals with three assists.

Saint-Maximin's arrival marks Newcastle's second ambitious attacking addition of the summer window, with the club smashing a club record by signing Brazilian forward Joelinton from Hoffenheim in July.

The Frenchman was also Newcastle's second signing of the day after Bruce and Co. lured Dutch international left-back Jetro Willems to St. James' Park from Eintracht Frankfurt on a season-long loan with a club option.
