The Atlanta Braves have acquired right-handed reliever Mark Melancon from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for pitcher Dan Winkler and Tristan Beck, the team announced.

Giants general manager Farhan Zaidi confirmed the Braves will pick up the entirety of Melancon's contract, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle. The 34-year-old hurler is owed the remainder of his $14-million salary for 2019 and $14 million in 2020.

Melancon has recorded 183 career saves, but he hasn't been a closer since 2017.

In 2019, he owns a 3.50 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 43 appearances.

Beck, 23, was the Braves' fourth-round selection in the 2018 draft. He's posted a 5.32 ERA with high strikeout numbers (10.4 per nine) in two lower levels of the minors this season.

Atlanta acquired the 29-year-old Winkler from the Colorado Rockies in the 2014 Rule 5 draft. He's authored a 3.68 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 177 big-league appearances, all with the Braves.

Atlanta was busy throughout the day, adding Melancon and Shane Greene to its bullpen. The team also traded for Chris Martin on Tuesday.
