The UFC released bantamweight John Lineker from his contract, his manager told ESPN's Marc Raimondi.
Lineker was given a co-main event bout against Rob Font at UFC Greenville in June but withdrew one day prior after allegedly suffering a facial laceration during his weight cut.
The 29-year-old Brazilian was a 16-fight promotion veteran, making his debut in May 2012. He originally competed in the flyweight division but was forced up to bantamweight after missing the mark on several weigh-ins.
Lineker has amassed a 31-9 record over his MMA career and was 12-4 in the UFC. He was defeated by Cory Sandhagen via split decision in his most recent bout in April.
