The Houston Astros are among teams interested in acquiring left-handed starter Matthew Boyd from the Detroit Tigers, a source told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

However, Houston is reportedly unwilling to include outfield prospect Kyle Tucker in a potential deal.

The Tigers recently indicated that the asking price for the southpaw starter is high, as they want several impact prospects in return.

Boyd, 28, is in the midst of his best season as a pro. Through May, Boyd was 5-4 with a 2.85 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings across 12 starts. June has been a different story, however, as he's 0-2 with a 5.90 ERA in five games. Boyd is arbitration-eligible following the 2019 campaign and isn't slated to hit free agency until after 2022.

Tucker was a coveted target when the two sides negotiated the Justin Verlander trade in 2017, but it was ultimately a no go, Morosi adds.

He made his big-league debut in 2018, playing in 28 games for the Astros, but hasn't returned to the majors in 2019. Houston signed Michael Brantley in the offseason and promoted prospect Yordan Alvarez in early June.

The 22-year-old Tucker is still the Astros' second-ranked prospect behind right-handed pitcher Forrest Whitley and is considered the 10th-best futures player in baseball by MLB Pipeline.
