It appears the Detroit Tigers have set a lofty asking price for left-hander Matthew Boyd.

The Tigers are looking for "multiple impact prospects" like the ones the Chicago Cubs traded away when they acquired Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox in 2017, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The White Sox ended up landing Eloy Jimenez and top pitching prospect Dylan Cease in the Quintana deal.

Boyd, 28, is enjoying a breakout campaign and is under team control through the 2022 season. He's scheduled to make just $2.8 million in 2019, too. When Quintana was traded, he was also 28 years old with three years of control left.

Little has gone well for Detroit this season. Boyd is one of the team's few bright spots with his 3.72 ERA and a career-high 11.4 K/9 rate over 101 2/3 innings. He ranks among the top 10 in WAR (2.6) for AL starting pitchers.

With the trade deadline less than five weeks away, the Tigers (26-50) are reportedly open to dealing virtually all their veterans.
