Spurs select Keldon Johnson with No. 29 pick
With the No. 29 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs selected Kentucky wing Keldon Johnson.
Johnson is the latest prodigy to come out of the famed Oak Hill Academy, which has also produced Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony. During his high school career, Johnson was named to the prestigious McDonald's All-American Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit. The 19-year-old went on to join another stacked recruiting class for John Calipari's Wildcats.
Johnson finished his lone collegiate season ranked third in team scoring (13.5), rebounding (5.9), and 3-point percentage (38.1) en route to being named SEC Freshman of the Year. The former five-star recruit projects to be a 3-and-D player at the next level with his outside shooting and length.

Strengths
- Can score in a variety of ways; in addition to his long-distance shooting, he's got a solid mid-range game and nice touch on a floater that he likes to use in traffic
- He's a big-game player who dropped 23 points against Duke, 21 against North Carolina, and 19 in a regular-season victory over then-No. 1 Tennessee
- Physically built to guard multiple positions
- Runs the floor well in transition and fills passing lanes on the wings
- Isn't afraid to get his nose dirty; battles on the glass and will dive for loose balls
Weaknesses
- Can be more assertive offensively; will sometimes pass up open looks
- Needs to improve his playmaking and decision-making skills; he averaged just 1.6 assists in 30.7 minutes played per contest and had a 1:1 assist-to-turnover ratio
- Well-rounded prospect but lacks an elite skill
