Bayern Munich will challenge Barcelona in their pursuit for Eintracht Frankfurt marksman Luka Jovic, sources told ESPN FC's Moises Llorens and Sam Marsden.

Jovic, 21, has apparently been watched over 20 times by Barcelona scouts as the club seeks a replacement for Luis Suarez. A report from the Guardian last week claimed the Spanish giants were preparing a €50-million offer for the Serbian.

However, Bayern Munich are also identifying a potential heir for Robert Lewandowski in Bavaria. Der FCB manager Niko Kovac brought Jovic to Eintracht on a two-season loan in 2017, and it's understood he remains a fan of the free-scoring striker.

Eintracht don't technically own Jovic. He is in the second year of his loan from Benfica, but the Bundesliga outfit has until May 31 to exercise a right to purchase Jovic for a paltry €6 million. Benfica are set to earn 20 percent of any fee over €6 million if Die Adler immediately cash in on the youngster.

Benfica will have no say in discussions with Barcelona and Bayern Munich if, as expected, Eintracht exercise their option to sign Jovic on a full-time basis.

Jovic has started 18 games in the current Bundesliga campaign, netting 15 times and assisting on five occasions. Eintracht are fifth in the German top flight, largely thanks to the attacking contributions from Jovic, Sebastien Haller, and Ante Rebic.
