DeMarcus Cousins had arguably his best game of the season in the Golden State Warriors' 121-110 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.

But, following the contest, the six-time All-Star was fuming after he was assessed a technical foul for tossing Hornets guard Jeremy Lamb's shoe to the sidelines, which had come off in the area he was defending.

"Next time I'll just step on the shoe and roll my ankle, break it, tear an Achilles," Cousins said, according to ESPN's Nick Friedell. "Just leave it out there next time. I guess that's what they want. I'll keep that in mind."

Cousins missed the first 45 games of the campaign after rupturing his Achilles last season. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was unsure if throwing a shoe warranted an automatic technical, but agreed Cousins made the correct decision.

"I don't know if there's an automatic rule that if you toss another guy's shoe out of the bounds - on the other hand, it's right in the way, somebody could get injured," Kerr said, according to Friedell. "So I wasn't really aware of what the rule was. He got the technical, so I guess that's the rule."

Cousins finished the game with a season-high 24 points, 11 boards, three assists, and three blocks in 31 minutes played. The 28-year-old is averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 boards per contest across 14 appearances.
