The Chicago White Sox have signed former All-Star right-hander Ervin Santana to a minor-league contract and invited him to spring training, the team announced Saturday.

Santana will earn $4.3 million if he makes the team, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The 36-year-old Santana spent the last four seasons with the Minnesota Twins. Injuries limited him to five starts in 2018, though he helped them to a surprising playoff berth two years ago by posting a 3.28 ERA and leading the majors in complete games and shutouts. That career-best 2017 campaign earned him his second All-Star berth and a seventh-place finish in AL Cy Young voting.

A veteran of 14 major-league seasons, Santana owns a 149-125 record with a 4.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 1,921 strikeouts over 2,408 innings with the Twins, Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City Royals, and Atlanta Braves. He authored a no-hitter while with the Angels in 2011.

In 2015, shortly after signing a $55-million contract with the Twins, Santana was suspended 80 games due to testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
