Mavs confirm that Barea ruptured his Achilles tendon
The Dallas Mavericks announced Saturday that an MRI has confirmed that J.J. Barea ruptured his right Achilles tendon in Friday's 119-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Barea is currently weighing his surgery options.
The injury occurred with approximately 6:31 remaining in the fourth quarter on a made layup from Barea.
The Puerto Rican native took a hard fall and was clutching his right ankle.
I really hope I’m wrong, but based of his immediate grabbing at the Achilles and and how upset he looked... That did not look good. pic.twitter.com/HP79UYbZi2

Barea had 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in 22 minutes played before leaving the game.
The 34-year-old has been a spark plug off the bench this season, averaging 10.9 points and 5.6 assists per contest.
Barea was also instrumental in helping the Mavericks defeat LeBron James and the Miami Heat for their first NBA title in 2011.
