76ers' Brown downplays Butler's actions in film session

A day after it was reported that Jimmy Butler challenged Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown about his role in the offense, Brown downplayed any possible friction between the two.

"As I've said to the team a moment ago, I've had many meetings with Jimmy. In the film session, I didn't think it went over the line. If it did, I would've addressed it," Brown said, according to Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times.

Brown said Butler's criticism was a "non-story" and that the response was "unfair" to the player, according to Michael Lee of The Athletic.

"He wanted to be in more pick-and-rolls," Brown said, according to Moore. "That was true. My job is to make this work."

Butler was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves in November for Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless, and a 2022 second-round draft pick.

The 29-year-old is averaging 18.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.9 steals in 21 games with the Sixers.
