New York Yankees president Randy Levine is in the running to become President Donald Trump's chief of staff, according to a report from MSNBC.

Levine is considered a "wild card" to replace outgoing Chief of Staff John Kelly, although he said he was satisfied in his current position with Yankees when responding to the rumors.

"No one's talked to me about being White House chief of staff," Levine told Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports. "I respect the president, but I'm very happy being president of the Yankees."

The 63-year-old executive is a long-standing supporter of Trump, who also questioned the president's tax-reform plan in an article written in 2017.

"When you ran and won, you ran on draining the swamp, not giving new life to it. You ran on tax cuts, not on the swamp’s idea of tax reform where special interests win. This is a plan that helps Wall Street, hedge funds, private equity managers, real estate and oil and gas partnerships and individuals who disguise income as profits or distributions," Levine wrote for Newsmax.

Levine has served as president of the Yankees since 2000, with the team wining two World Series during his tenure.
