Yankees' Romine becomes 2nd position player to pitch in postseason game
The New York Yankees sent Austin Romine to the mound for the ninth inning when the Boston Red Sox were stomping them 14-1 in Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
Romine, who was making his first pitching appearance in the major leagues, became the second position player to take the mound in the playoffs. Cliff Pennington became the first during the 2015 American League Championship Series when he pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays.

The 29-year-old backup catcher retired the first two batters he faced before surrendering a home run to Red Sox utility man Brock Holt, who recorded the first postseason cycle in Major League Baseball history.
