Osorio steps down as Mexico manager
Juan Carlos Osorio has turned down an extension offer from the Mexican Football Federation, ending his spell as El Tri's manager.
The federation announced Osorio's decision with a statement on its website Friday. The 57-year-old is leaving his position as Mexico's coach after 52 matches in charge, leading the team to 33 victories and a run to the round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Osorio initially signed a three-year deal in Oct. 2015, becoming the 12th manager of the Mexican national team in a nine-year window. The unpredictable tactician took over following Miguel Herrera's shocking dismissal.
After a deep analysis and discussion, Juan Carlos Osorio has decided to step down of the head coach charge.

"We appreciate the dedication, passion, commitment and affection with which he acted and prepared each of the games in which he was in charge of the National Team of Mexico, as well as his candor and honesty in making his decision not to be considered a candidate for the next World Cup," the federation's statement added.
Osorio, 57, has been linked with six other national team appointments, including the United States men's team gig following spells managing in the North American top flight with the Chicago Fire and the New York Red Bulls. The Colombian-born Osorio has also been mentioned as a replacement for current Los Cafeteros boss Jose Pekerman.
