With the trade deadline about a month away, the New York Yankees' interest in acquiring a starting pitcher continues to grow. But, they don't appear willing to trade one of their best up-and-coming players.

General manager Brian Cashman doesn't want to deal outfielder Clint Frazier, despite the 24-year-old being one of their best trade chips.

"We’d like to hold on to him," Cashman told Mike Mazzeo of the New York Daily News. "I know he’s someone that we’re going to get asked a lot about, and so far we’ve been able to say no and hand-check everything, but I’m a big Clint Frazier fan."

The Yankees have been linked to a number of starting pitchers, including J.A. Happ of the Toronto Blue Jays and Cole Hamels of the Texas Rangers, but Cashman sees too much of a future for Frazier in New York to deal him for either of the aforementioned pitchers.

"He was a big piece of that trade of Andrew Miller along with some others and I think he’s got a lot of really good baseball ahead of him," Cashman explained. "He’s going about his business perfectly right now. He’s impacting us in a positive way and saying all the right things."

Frazier was long considered a heralded prospect, making his big-league debut last season with the Yankees. Despite his pedigree, however, he hasn't really had a chance to prove himself in the majors for an extended period of time because of a stocked Yankees outfield.

He was recalled last week and discussed his displeasure with being in the minors, but appears thrilled to get another shot.

"It's in the back of your mind every time you turn the TV on or every time you walk in the stadium down there (at Triple-A)," Frazier explained to Coley Harvey of ESPN. "It's hard not to be unhappy about the situation, but I'm just happy now that I've got a change of scenery."

Since being recalled, Frazier is 4-for-12 with four runs scored.
