It's extremely difficult for an NBA team to make its way through the first three rounds of the playoffs and advance to the Finals once, so to pull off that feat four years in a row is truly remarkable.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have done just that, and are once again four victories away from hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy after defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Sunday night.
Cleveland joins the Celtics (two occasions), Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat as the only NBA teams to accomplish that milestone.
Team | Years | No. of titles |
---|---|---|
Boston Celtics | 1957-66 | 9 |
Los Angeles Lakers | 1982-85 | 2 |
Boston Celtics | 1984-87 | 2 |
Miami Heat | 2011-14 | 2 |
Cleveland Cavaliers | 2015-18 | 1 |
The Golden State Warriors could become the sixth team to make four straight Finals appearances if they defeat the Houston Rockets in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals on Monday.
