Stan Van Gundy was let go by the Detroit Pistons on Monday after four seasons as head coach and president of basketball operations, but he'd consider getting back on the horse under the right circumstances.

Despite difficulties during his time in Detroit - reaching the postseason only once - Van Gundy is prepared to give coaching another shot, but is stepping away from front-office work for the time being.

"I'd like to coach in the right situation," Van Gundy said, per the Orlando Sentinel's Josh Robbins. "(I'm) not interested in a front-office role."

Van Gundy was prepared to remain head coach of the Pistons and relinquish his role in the front office but said owner Tom Gores wanted to "change the structure and the leadership."

Detroit was Van Gundy's third stop as a head coach. The club collected a 152-176 record during his tenure.

He coached the Orlando Magic for five seasons, reaching the playoffs each year and making the NBA Finals in 2009. He also manned the Miami Heat's sideline for two full seasons before being fired just 21 games into his third campaign.
