With the celebratory spirit of Arsene Wenger's Emirates Stadium swansong in the rearview, Arsenal is shifting its focus to naming the Frenchman's successor, and quickly.

According to the BBC's David Ornstein, the north London side is hoping to announce the appointment before the World Cup kicks off in Moscow on June 14.

Ornstein adds Arsenal "wants proper process and to respect those in jobs," further speculating on some of the names commonly linked with a move to the club.

The report alleges Atletico Madrid's Diego Simeone and former Borussia Dortmund gaffer Thomas Tuchel are not in the running, with the latter likely to be named Paris Saint-Germain manager on Wednesday. Ornstein adds Joachim Low (Germany), Brendan Rodgers (Celtic), and Rui Faria (Jose Mourinho's deputy at Manchester United) appear set to stay put.

A trusted source on Arsenal news, Ornstein speculates that ex-Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is not likely to be in the running, while current Juventus boss Max Allegri is planning to leave the soon-to-be seven-in-a-row Scudetto champ, but is "unclear on (his) next move."

Former Gunners' midfield ball-winners Patrick Vieira (New York City) and Mikel Arteta (Pep Guardiola's Manchester City assistant) have also been mentioned as potential targets, as have Monaco's Leonardo Jardim and Hoffenheim's Julian Nagelsmann.
