Frequently mentioned as a potential replacement for Arsene Wenger, New York City FC boss Patrick Vieira has denied contact with Arsenal over its soon-to-be-vacant managerial position.

Linked with a return to Arsenal alongside several of Europe's marquee managers, Vieira addressed rumours during Tuesday's NYCFC training ground unveiling.

When asked if he had been contacted by the north London lot, Vieira responded "no," telling ESPN FC, "I'm sure (the press) will know before I do."

After a year at the helm of Manchester City's reserves, Vieira took over at NYCFC in January 2016 and has led the MLS outfit to 31 victories in 74 matches.

Vieira and fellow former Gunner Mikel Arteta have been reportedly linked with the Arsenal job, as has Luis Enrique, Massimiliano Allegri, Leonardo Jardim, and several others.

On the topic of the towering Frenchman being honoured by the links, Vieira admitted, "Of course, because you're talking about Arsenal Football Club, and it's a big football club, it's an honour, but I have never been in touch."
