UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN's Brett Okamato that a much-anticipated showdown between featherweight champion Max Holloway and Brian Ortega will take place at UFC 226.

It was previously reported that a fight was in the works between the two fighters.

Holloway defended the featherweight title against Jose Aldo at UFC 218, winning via TKO (punches) in the third round.

Ortega last fought against Frankie Edgar, knocking him out in the fourth minute of the first round. For his effort, Ortega earned Performance of the Night honors at UFC 222.
