White Sox make 2 trades to reacquire Trayce Thompson

The Chicago White Sox participated in a mini trade frenzy on Thursday, acquiring outfielder Trayce Thompson while unloading utility infielder Tyler Saladino in the process.

Chicago first announced a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, acquiring cash considerations for Saladino, who was immediately optioned to Triple-A.

Moments later, the White Sox announced a separate trade with the Oakland Athletics for Thompson, who began his big-league career with Chicago.

Thompson, the younger brother of NBA star Klay Thompson, has had quite a hectic season thus far.

At the end of March, he was designated for assignment by the Los Angeles Dodgers and claimed off waivers by the New York Yankees six days later.

He was only a Yankee for two days before the Athletics claimed him.

Thompson appeared in three games for Oakland - which included a marvelous, leaping catch - before he was DFA'ed once again on Tuesday.

He owns a career OPS of .747 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs in 154 big-league games.
