Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Pat Neshek is an avid baseball card collector, and earlier this week he made the mistake collectors have nightmares about.

Neshek sold a rare Shohei Ohtani card on eBay right before the two-way superstar homered in three consecutive games and struck out 12 in a near no-hitter, thus upping the item's value.

"It was the best card I've ever pulled in my life," Neshek told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com. "It kind of blew my mind. I knew somebody would cherish it a lot more than I did, so I was like, I'm going to list this so I can get something I want or go buy another case (of cards). That's kind of how the hobby works. Yeah, so I put it up, it was pretty fierce bidding there."

Neshek sold the card - which is even more valuable than the other 68 in existence because it was the first in the series - for $6,100.

"You're not going to get that card again," Neshek explained. "It's got to be one in a couple thousand cases."

The 37-year-old reliever is known around baseball for his quirky collecting hobby, which also includes asking fellow ballplayers for autographs.

Last season, Neshek even called Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke a "turd" after he apparently refused to sign an autograph for his son's collection.
