Team Europe won the Ryder Cup for the sixth straight time at home, defeating the Americans 17.5 to 10.5 after three days of dominance.

Entering Sunday's singles matches requiring only 4.5 points to hoist the trophy, the Europeans steamrolled Team USA by earning 7.5 out of a possible 12 points.

Francesco Molinari won the clinching point for the European side, as Phil Mickelson conceded the match on the 16th tee after dunking one in the water. Molinari becomes the first player in golf history to win a major and all five of his matches at the Ryder Cup in the same year.

Ryder Cup rookie Jon Rahm earned a pivotal point for his team by defeating Tiger Woods 2&1. Coming off his 80th career PGA Tour win, Woods went winless in four sessions to record the most disappointing Ryder Cup performance on the American squad.

Sergio Garcia pulled out a huge win over Rickie Fowler 2&1 to become the all-time leader in Ryder Cup points earned with 25.5.

Early in the day, there was some hope for Team USA as they led or were tied in the first six matches on the course. Needing eight points to reclaim the Ryder Cup, Justin Thomas beat Rory McIlroy in the first match out, Webb Simpson took down Justin Rose, and Tony Finau ended Tommy Fleetwood's historic run 6&4.

However, the Americans would slowly run out of steam losing four straight matches including Thorbjorn Olesen's upset of Jordan Spieth.

After storming out of the gate Friday morning by winning three of four matches, Team USA went on to lose eight straight contests, tilting the momentum heavily in the European's favor and digging a hole ultimately too big to climb out of.

American captain's picks of Woods, Mickelson, Finau, and Bryson DeChambeau went on to post an abysmal 2-10-0 record.

This is Europe's ninth Ryder Cup win in the past 12 events, dating back to the last time they lost on home soil in 1993.
