Liverpool apologises to Manchester City over team bus damage
Liverpool offered an immediate response to damage inflicted on Manchester City's team bus ahead of Wednesday's Champions League fixture, issuing an apology and condemning those responsible in "the strongest possible terms."
The projectiles aimed at the vehicle transporting City players through the crowds outside Anfield left it "undriveable" for the return journey, according to BBC Sport's David Ornstein, and a replacement bus was called for.
"The club condemns in the strongest possible terms the scenes which preceded our Champions League quarter-final, which resulted in damage being inflicted on the Manchester City team bus during their arrival at Anfield," read the club's statement.
"We apologise unreservedly to Pep Guardiola, his players, staff and officials caught up in the incident."

Liverpool pledged to assist the relevant authorities in finding those responsible for "completely unacceptable" behaviour.
The second leg of the quarter-final will be contested at the Etihad Stadium next Tuesday.
