Report: Mets interested in Greg Holland

The New York Mets are interested in adding to an already deep bullpen, as the club has discussed signing right-hander Greg Holland, sources told Matt Ehalt of NorthJersey.com.

Holland is by far the best free-agent reliever left on the market after leading the National League with 41 saves pitching for the Colorado Rockies in 2017. After passing on a one-year, $17.4-million qualifying offer from the Rockies, Holland reportedly turned down a three-year, $52-million deal to return to Colorado, who turned around and gave that same deal to closer Wade Davis.

If Holland joins the Mets, he'd have to settle for a middle-relief role, as the club has committed to Jeurys Familia as closer. Right-hander A.J. Ramos and Anthony Swarzak, whom the Mets signed to a two-year, $14-million contract this offseason, are also expected to be heavily leaned on late in games this season.
