Chris Paul appreciates his teammate for having his back.

In the Houston Rockets' 129-120 win Sunday over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Gerald Green was ejected with just over 10 minutes to play when he took exception with Gorgui Dieng pushing Paul out of the way in a fight for a loose ball. As Paul fell to the floor, Green went straight after Dieng and shoved him into the first row of fans, setting off a small scuffle between the two teams and earning himself an ejection.

While Green is likely to hear from the league office for the incident, Paul has assured him he won't have to pull out his wallet.

"He didn't push me that hard. It was more so unexpected. I told (Green) I appreciate it, and I'll cover whatever fine," Paul told the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen.

For the record, Paul is earning a shade over $24 million this year, while Green, whose deal was only guaranteed for the rest of the season in January, is making just $1.38 million, courtesy of Spotrac.
