In search of a new general manager, the Charlotte Hornets have received permission to interview a handful of executives.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports the organization will meet with Houston Rockets VP of Basketball Ops Gersson Rosas, Philadelphia 76ers VP of Player Personnel Marc Eversley, and Miami Heat assistant GM Adam Simon as early as this week.

Former Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak reportedly remains the favorite to fill the vacancy left by Rich Cho, with whom the Hornets recently parted ways. Kupchak, who won titles in 2009 and 2010 with the Lakers before being replaced by Magic Johnson, has an existing relationship with team owner Michael Jordan and shares ties with North Carolina.

The Hornets reportedly hope to hire a new general manager before the regular season wraps up. Eversley has been with the 76ers for two seasons after a decade working in the front offices of the Wizards and Raptors. Rosas has spent the last 17 years in Houston and helped assemble the first-place roster. Simon started as an intern with the Heat and climbed up to assistant GM over 23 years with the club, helping Miami to three championships.
